Controversy erupts over changing the color of Doordarshan logo

New Delhi: Here in the country, voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 has taken place, while on the other hand, the political controversy regarding the new logo of Doordarshan painted in saffron color has also deepened. Actually, the blue colored logo of Doordarshan has been changed to orange colored logo, on which there is controversy. BJP is defending the government’s decision saying that the color which was chosen by Indira Gandhi for DD channel in 1982 has been restored. On the other hand, the opposition has called it a violation of the election code of conduct. 

Along with the color change of Doordarshan’s logo, the news is coming that if the NDA government is formed once again under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then more important changes can be seen in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Prasar Bharati, which will The plan has been prepared.

If sources are to be believed, there are plans to expand Doordarshan as a global brand with bureaus in 15 countries. It is being told that Prasar Bharati’s Shabd portal will be developed as a global news agency by including more than a thousand media organizations including foreign outlets. Apart from this, plans are also being made to expand PIB Fact-Check, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub in MIB, Bharat Naman Portal and starting Masters Degree course in Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). In such a situation, when general elections are going on in the country, the opposition has called the change in the color of Doordarshan’s logo as a violation of the code of conduct and this has sparked a political debate.
