Stars of Houston 10th Anniversary: Biggest Malayali International T20 Cricket Tournament Announced

Houston, Texas – The renowned non-profit organization Stars of Houston has officially announced the biggest Malayali T20 cricket tournament in the U.S. as part of its 10th-anniversary celebrations. The announcement was made by President Vinayan Mathew during a press meet held on January 25, Saturday, at 6 PM at Phil Phila Bar & Restaurant. The press conference was organized by the India Press Club of North America (IPCNA), Houston Chapter.

This historic tournament will be the first-ever international-level Malayali cricket tournament and is scheduled to take place on March 14, 15, and 16, 2025. The event will feature 16 teams from the U.S. and 2 teams from Canada, competing across 11 major cricket grounds in Houston. The winning team will receive a $5,000 cash prize, while the runners-up will be awarded $2,500.

The kick-off event featured several key moments. Premadas Mammayil delivered the welcome address, while Mikhayel Joy presided over the event. Vinayan Mathew presented the tournament details. Bijesh John unveiled the tournament logo, and Arun Jose introduced the new team jersey. A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of Fort Bend County Police Captain Manoj Poopparayil, who was honored by Judge Julie Mathew, presenting him with a commemorative plaque.

The tournament’s first coupon sale was officially conducted by Sreejith Parampil, who handed over the first ticket to FOMAA National President Baby Manakkunnel. Several prominent community leaders attended and extended their support, including Judge Julie Mathew, MAGH Vice President Mathews Chandappillil, MAGH Treasurer Sujith Chacko, MAGH PRO John Varghese, MAGH Joint Secretary Christopher George, IPCNA Houston Vice President Jeemon Ranni, IPCNA Houston Secretary Mothy Mathew, South Indian US Chamber of Commerce President George Joseph, FOMAA Regional Women’s Secretary Ancy Samuel, and FOCANA National Women’s Chair Sheela Cheru.

Speaking at the event, Vinayan Mathew expressed his excitement, stating that this will be the largest Malayali cricket tournament ever held in the U.S. Mikhayel Joy, showing confidence in the Houston team, boldly declared that the cup will stay in Houston this time.

The Stars of Houston invites all cricket enthusiasts to participate and be part of this grand sporting event.
