New Delhi: BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 27 years. But the decision on the Chief Minister has not been taken yet. Top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party are holding continuous meetings.
Amidst the ongoing churning within the Bharatiya Janata Party regarding the formation of the government in Delhi, the party is also considering the option of including two deputy chief ministers in the new cabinet to show the capital as a mini India. Some party leaders said that the move to have two deputy chief ministers in the Delhi government will help the party accommodate MLAs from different castes, communities and regional backgrounds. BJP leaders told media that this is very likely as it has been done in many other states as well, where two deputy chief ministers have been appointed to accommodate leaders from different backgrounds. This has been done in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
BJP leaders said that this proposal is under the consideration of the national leadership, which will take the final decision on it. Apart from this, a final decision will also be taken on the names of the Chief Minister and other ministers. The process of government formation in Delhi is likely to accelerate after Prime Minister Modi returns from his foreign tour. Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to make the oath taking ceremony of CM in Delhi grand.
