Tel Aviv: Israel’s Prime Minister has made a significant and strategic statement regarding the country’s security and defense policies. He has clearly stated that to ensure its security, Israel must gradually reduce its military and weapons dependence on the United States. According to the Prime Minister, in view of future challenges, Israel must now become self-reliant and rapidly develop its ability to manufacture its own state-of-the-art defense equipment and weapons (self-reliance).
Israel has long relied heavily on the United States for modern weapons, missile defense systems (such as Iron Dome interceptors), and military funding. However, recent changes in global politics and internal US politics have led Israeli leadership to realize that relying solely on a single country poses risks to its long-term security.
Following this decision, Israel will now increase investment in its domestic defense manufacturing. Israeli giants like Rafael, Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) will now begin large-scale production of weapons and ammunition domestically, in order to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers. This statement comes at a time when the Middle East’s dynamics are rapidly changing following the recent peace deal between the US and Iran, and Israel is redefining its future security priorities.
