Muthoot Fincorp Trivandrum Heritage Run on August 9; Aims to Promote Health and Heritage

Community engagement, heritage preservation and wellness top priorities as Muthoot Fincorp joins ITEN Runners Club for the inaugural Trivandrum Heritage Run.

Thiruvananthapuram, August 5, 2026: Muthoot Fincorp, in association with Trivandrum’s largest runner’s club ITEN Runners Club, is organizing the Trivandrum Heritage Run 2026 on August 9, 2026. The 10-kilometre Trivandrum Heritage Run will offer participants a unique opportunity to experience historical, architectural, and cultural landmarks of Thiruvananthapuram while encouraging community engagement in heritage preservation and wellness.

Muthoot Fincorp’s association with the Trivandrum Heritage Run is guided by a dual mission of promoting healthier lifestyle among citizens while fostering a greater awareness on Thiruvananthapuram’s rich heritage, cultural identity and encouraging a long-term commitment to its preservation.

The Trivandrum Heritage Run is the first step in a five-year initiative aimed at protecting, documenting, and creating public awareness about the city’s heritage assets. The official jersey of the event was unveiled by Joby Mathew, World Champion Arm Wrestler and Inspiration Sports Icon, at a media conference organized to announce the Trivandrum Heritage Run.

Most marathons are typically conducted along bypass roads or coastal routes, but the Trivandrum Heritage Run takes participants through the heart of the city. The route itself has been carefully designed to provide runners with an opportunity to experience the city’s history, architectural legacy, educational institutions, and religious diversity.

Starting and finishing at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, the route will pass through several prominent landmarks including LMS Church, Napier Museum, Kanakakkunnu Palace, the Kerala Lok Bhavan area, the Kowdiar Palace area, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral, Palayam Juma Masjid, Sree Sakthi Vinayaka Temple, University College, Government Ayurveda College, and Sanskrit College.

Around 1,000 participants from Kerala and other parts of the country are expected at the inaugural edition. Registered participants will receive the official event T-shirt, a finisher medal, breakfast, hydration support along the route, and gift hampers.

Speaking about the significance of the initiative, an ITEN Runners Club representative (Dr. Sankar Ram, Retd. Chief Consultant in Physical medicine, General Hospital, Trivandrum said “This year, the MFL Trivandrum Heritage Run proudly partners with Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt, a statewide campaign against drug abuse. Through this collaboration, the event highlights the role of sports, fitness, and community participation in promoting a healthy, drug-free society. By bringing together people from all walks of life, the run aims to raise awareness, encourage positive lifestyle choices, and support efforts to protect future generations from substance abuse.”

Dr Veena Babu, Secretary. ITEN Runner Club, and Research Scientist, Department of Neurology, Sree Chithra Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), also was present at the media conference.

The Trivandrum Heritage Run will evolve into a people’s movement that not only promotes healthy living but also encourages greater public participation in preserving and celebrating the unique heritage of Thiruvananthapuram.
