New Delhi : On the auspicious occasion of Teachers’ Day, President Draupadi Murmu called upon teachers across the country to guide and shape the new generation. She stated that teachers’ primary responsibility is not only to provide formal education to students, but also to develop them into sensitive and responsible citizens by inculcating scientific thinking, moral values, and a sense of “nation first.” She clarified that students who achieve success in life with ethical conduct and right thinking are the greatest symbol of a teacher’s true success.
Referring to his special article , “Shaping Minds; Building the Future,” the President underscored the unbreakable bond between teachers and parents. He said that when parents send their children to school for education, they place immense trust in teachers. Therefore, it is the moral duty of every teacher to treat children as their own and ensure their safety, mental health, and overall development. Teachers’ conduct should eliminate fear, anxiety, and inferiority complex from students’ minds and instill confidence and enthusiasm in them.
Emphasizing India’s goal of becoming a developed nation with social inclusion at its core, the President said that we need to prepare a generation that respects its rich cultural heritage and traditions while also possessing a modern scientific outlook. Students should be imbued with a spirit of Antyodaya (the upliftment of all), compassion for the environment and living beings, and the drive to achieve individual and collective excellence. A dedicated teacher has the ability to unleash the immense potential hidden within a student.
President Draupadi Murmu also said that true education is not limited to teaching textbooks; it is about awakening children’s potential and self-confidence. An excellent teacher fosters original thinking, curiosity, and the ability to ask logical questions in students. Only through such quality and visionary education will the country produce innovative scientists, successful entrepreneurs, sensitive artists, and capable citizens who can find solutions to future challenges. She also urged all citizens to accord the highest respect to loyal and dedicated teachers.
