Jharsuguda (Odisha): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore during his visit to Jharsuguda, Odisha. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for schemes in various sectors such as telecommunications, railways, higher education, health, skill development and rural housing.
This is PM Modi’s seventh visit to the state since the BJP government was formed. The Prime Minister has been visiting Odisha approximately every two to three months since the Mohan Charan Majhi-led government was formed on June 12, 2024. Upon his arrival in Jharsuguda, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Majhi.
To strengthen the national communications infrastructure, PM Modi inaugurated over 97,500 mobile 4G towers built using indigenous technology. This project, costing approximately ₹37,000 crore, will elevate digital connectivity across the country.
The Prime Minister also flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express between Brahmapur and Udhna (Surat), which is expected to boost tourism and employment.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said, “The Prime Minister’s focus has always been on Odisha’s development. Under his guidance, the state is progressing rapidly.”
Addressing the rally, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, Odisha is progressing at the speed of a double-engine government. The BJP government is dedicated to serving and empowering the poor. We are focusing on providing basic amenities to Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities.”
He further said, “Today a new chapter has begun for BSNL. Indigenous 4G services have been launched. Our resolve is to make India self-reliant – our goal is to make the country indigenous in every field, from chips to ships.”
Attacking the Congress party, Prime Minister Modi said, “In 2014, when you gave us the opportunity to serve, we freed the country from the Congress regime’s plunder. Today, under the BJP government, the country is experiencing a period of double savings and double income. When the Congress party was in power, even annual incomes up to ₹2 lakh were taxable, but now incomes up to ₹12 lakh are tax-free.”
After the public meeting, Prime Minister Modi also participated in a road show in Jharsuguda, where a huge crowd gathered to see him.
