Director S.S. Rajamouli’s film Baahubali, released nearly 10 years ago, proved to be a film that changed the way Hindi-speaking audiences viewed South Indian films. The Baahubali franchise proved to be a milestone for South Indian cinema. Both parts of the film created history. The first part of Baahubali grossed over ₹500 crore, while Baahubali 2 grossed a staggering ₹1800 crore.
Now, in 2025, the film has been re-released as “Baahubali The Epic.” S.S. Rajamouli’s “Baahubali The Epic” made a strong opening weekend. Despite facing competition from films like Thama, Kantara Chapter 1, and Paresh Rawal’s “The Taj Story,” Prabhas’s film garnered widespread attention. According to a report, “Baahubali The Epic” grossed over ₹24 crore in its opening weekend.
The film, re-released after 10 years, has earned around 44 crore rupees at the worldwide box office. With this earning, ‘Baahubali The Epic’ has made it to the top 10 at the worldwide box office. ‘Baahubali The Epic’ has surpassed Sanam Teri Kasam as the highest grossing film upon re-release. Sanam Teri Kasam, re-released this year, had collected 41 crore rupees at the worldwide box office. When Sanam Teri Kasam was released in 2016, audiences completely rejected it. However, the film’s songs proved to be superhits.
Despite being a re-release, “Baahubali The Epic” has performed better than other films. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s “Thama,” released on Diwali, grossed ₹11.90 crore nationwide in its second weekend. “Kantapa Chapter 1” collected ₹9.10 crore in its fifth weekend, while Paresh Rawal’s new release, “The Taj Story,” earned ₹5.11 crore.
