New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is furious over Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s statement that Congress means Muslims. The party criticized Revanth Reddy, saying that the Chief Minister and his party have accepted that they are Jinnahists and place Sharia above the Constitution. Earlier, the BJP had also opposed the appointment of Indian captain Azharuddin as a minister before the upcoming by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly.
Addressing a rally for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election on Thursday, he criticized the BJP’s opposition to Azhar’s ministerial appointment. He said that only the Congress party gives high-profile positions to members of minority communities. He said, “Congress means Muslims, and Muslims mean Congress.”
Following the Chief Minister’s statement, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala took the stand. He attacked Reddy, saying, “Revanth Reddy has openly admitted what we have known for a long time… This is not the INC (Indian National Congress), it is the JWC, or ‘Jinnahwadi Congress.’ Today, he has openly admitted it.”
Poonawala alleged that this mentality is the reason Congress repeatedly says Muslims first, Sharia first, vote bank first, and not the Constitution or India first. The BJP spokesperson said, “What the Telangana CM has said is the true face of Congress. It is actually serving its vote bank. It puts vote bank and Sharia above the Constitution. This mentality is why Congress wants to cut OBC, SC, and ST reservations to give them to its preferred vote bank. It has done this in Karnataka and Telangana.”
