Amid the rising death toll and the unstable security situation, the Indian Embassy has issued strict advisories for its citizens.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced on the social media platform X that he received a call from Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Jaishankar wrote that the two discussed the current situation in and around Iran. This conversation came at a time when the situation in Iran is rapidly deteriorating and international concern is growing.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has appealed to all Indian citizens, including students, pilgrims, businesspeople, and tourists, to leave Iran using all available means. The Embassy has urged citizens to use commercial flights and keep all necessary documents, such as passports and identity cards, ready. They have been advised to contact the Embassy for any assistance.

The Embassy also reiterated that all Indian citizens and PIOs should exercise extreme caution. Given the situation, the Embassy has assured prompt assistance in case of emergencies.

The protests against the Khamenei government in Iran have now entered their twentieth day. Discontent, sparked by double-digit inflation and the continued devaluation of the currency, has now escalated into a widespread movement. Violent clashes have erupted in approximately 280 locations across the country. Nearly 2,500 people have been reported dead in these incidents, further escalating the situation.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump urged protesters to take control of their institutions and not retreat. He indicated that help was on the way, though he did not provide details. The Trump administration also advised the evacuation of some personnel from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as a precaution. Iran has warned neighboring countries that US bases there would be targeted in the event of a US attack.
