New Delhi: A major political development has taken place in the capital Delhi during the ongoing protests against the irregularities in the NEET exam and the future of the youth. Samajwadi Party MP from Mainpuri, Dimple Yadav, along with several other SP MPs, have been detained by the police. The Samajwadi Party has given information about this action through social media. The party has termed the lathi charge on the students and the detention of public representatives as undemocratic and condemnable. The protesting students and opposition leaders are on the streets demanding transparency in the NEET exam system.
Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav reacted sharply to this situation, questioning the government about who was responsible for the NEET paper leak and the resulting irregularities. He stated that while MPs were in police custody, students were being brutally beaten outside. Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the government was neither able to provide employment to young people nor was it willing to listen to their problems. He criticized the government’s working style, saying that a government that cannot listen to children has no moral right to remain in power.
Citing the example of British rule, Akhilesh Yadav said that even during that era, the rulers listened to protesters, but the current government is adopting a repressive policy. Meanwhile, MP Dimple Yadav also criticized the government, saying that every section of the country—whether farmers, youth, or environmental activists—is suffering today. She alleged that this government has completely failed to conduct fair examinations and is attempting to suppress democratic protests. Expressing her full support for the students, Dimple Yadav said that the government’s insensitivity has become intolerable.
In its statements, the Samajwadi Party has called the government’s claims of “Vishwaguru” and “Amrit Kaal” hollow. The party argues that if youth had received timely jobs and fair examinations, they would not have needed to take to the streets today. SP leaders have warned that if the government does not accept the students’ demands in a timely manner and take action against the responsible ministers, the movement could become more violent. Currently, the ongoing standoff in Delhi has become a major challenge for the government at both the administrative and political levels.
