New Delhi: The political debate over the police action during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest and Parliament siege in the capital has intensified. While the opposition is cornering the government, leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are also offering varying responses to the issue.
Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut has strongly supported and praised the actions of the Delhi Police. Speaking to the media, Kangana said that all the MPs inside Parliament were frightened after the protesters attempted to reach the main gate. She explained that due to the gate being closed, the MPs were unable to exit even after the House was adjourned. Kangana said that amid the fear of mob attack, the Delhi Police acted as a shield to protect the MPs, for which she is grateful to the administration.
On the other hand, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan took a more measured stance on the issue. He stated that he respected the sentiments of the youth and candidates, and that discontent may have compelled them to take to the streets. Chirag clarified that he was not in favor of suppressing anyone’s voice, but when protests disrupt law and order or cross the line, the administration must take strict action. He reminded that the government is always open to dialogue, and that a CJP delegation had already met with Union Minister J.P. Nadda.
