Big relief for delivery riders in Dubai, air-conditioned rest areas ready to escape the heat

There’s some great news for delivery workers braving the heat and sun on Dubai’s streets. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has created a large network of air-conditioned restrooms for delivery riders, keeping the summer season in mind. This move will bring relief to all the migrant workers and Indian youth who work as delivery boys in the UAE and live on the streets in the scorching sun.

According to officials, the RTA has constructed approximately 40 concrete and air-conditioned rest stations in major and busy areas of the city. These modern facilities are located in crowded areas like Al Barsha , Al Satwa , and Hessa Street . These rooms can accommodate approximately 10 riders at a time. They also include drinking water machines, mobile charging facilities, and dedicated bike parking spaces.

This initiative coincides with the UAE government’s annual midday work order, which prohibits working outdoors in direct sunlight between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM from June 15th to September 15th. To improve the safety and health of workers, the RTA recently launched the ‘Safe and Healthy Summer for Delivery Riders’ campaign in collaboration with food delivery platform Keeta . As part of this campaign, more than 5,000 health kits were distributed among workers. Furthermore, with the support of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, 12,000 national rest stations are being made available across the country to ensure that those in the delivery sector do not face any difficulties.
