New Delhi: New developments within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organization have fueled speculation about a reshuffle in the Modi cabinet and changes within the party’s top leadership. According to insiders, the most significant changes in the coming days could be seen within the party’s highest decision-making body, the Parliamentary Board.
Although the BJP Parliamentary Board is small in size, its role within the organization is considered extremely powerful. All major and crucial decisions, from selecting the prime ministerial candidate to finalizing candidates for major elections, are made through this board.
According to reports of a possible reorganization, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh are almost certain to remain on the board. Rajnath Singh is one of the board’s most senior serving members. Furthermore, BJP National General Secretary B.L. Santosh is also expected to remain on the board, given his role in the organization.
Seven other positions in the parliamentary board are likely to be filled by new faces or reshuffled. These positions are currently held by JP Nadda, BS Yediyurappa, Sarbananda Sonowal, K. Laxman, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Dr. Sudha Yadav, and Satyanarayan Jatiya.
Discussions are ongoing regarding Union Health Minister and former party president JP Nadda. However, with the upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly elections in 2027, removing him from the party board will not be an easy decision, as it could impact regional and political dynamics.
This time, there’s a strong possibility that state Chief Ministers will be included in the Parliamentary Board. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are leading the race. It’s rumored that these two top leaders also have the support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), making their claims to the board a strong one.
