Gujarat Celebrates 25 Years of PM Modi’s Public Service; Seva Jyoti Yatra Begins in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: To mark the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service, a grand ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’ was organised across Gujarat on Wednesday. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated in the main event held at the Ahmedabad Riverfront under the themes ‘Jan Seva Se Rashtra Seva’ (Service to the Nation Through Public Service) and ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’.

The Yatra highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s 25-year journey of public service, good governance, and nation-building. The event conveyed a message of service, dedication, and commitment to the national interest.

Addressing the gathering virtually, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon citizens to work towards building a strong, self-reliant, and developed India by 2047.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with other dignitaries and officials present at the event, listened to the Prime Minister’s address. Patel urged citizens to participate wholeheartedly in the nationwide campaign to achieve the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ through initiatives such as the Seva Jyoti Yatra.

Following the Prime Minister’s address, the ceremonial ‘Seva Jyoti’ was lit at the venue. The Chief Minister, other dignitaries, and citizens collectively took a pledge to contribute towards building a developed India.

The ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’ subsequently commenced in Ahmedabad, drawing enthusiastic participation from citizens who expressed their appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s 25 years of public service.

At the conclusion of the Yatra, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda by laying a wreath at his life-size statue near the Town Hall.

Apart from Ahmedabad, Seva Jyoti Yatras were organised on a large scale in districts and major cities across Gujarat. State government ministers, elected representatives, local political leaders, and citizens participated in the celebrations.

Among those present at the Ahmedabad event were West Bengal Minister Ajay Kumar Poddar, Ahmedabad Mayor Hiteshbhai Barot, Members of Parliament Hasmukhbhai Patel and Dineshbhai Makwana, MLAs from the city and district, and city BJP president Prerak Shah.

Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Jayanti Ravi, Municipal Commissioner Banchanidhi Pani, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Vikrant Pandey, and Collector Bhavya Verma, also attended the programme.

The celebrations also highlighted several major infrastructure projects, industrial investments, and development initiatives undertaken in Gujarat during the past 25 years.

  1. Ahmedabad–Dholera Semi-High-Speed Rail Project: Approval was granted for a semi-high-speed double-track railway project connecting Sarkhej in Ahmedabad with Dholera, at an estimated cost of ₹20,667 crore.

  2. Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway: The greenfield expressway project, estimated to cost ₹5,800 crore, received approval to improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and Dholera.

  3. GIFT City Tax Incentives: The Union Budget 2026–27 announced a 20-year tax holiday for eligible entities operating in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

  4. Major Development Projects: In September 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced or inaugurated development projects worth more than ₹35,200 crore in Gujarat.

  5. Western Dedicated Freight Corridor: Three important sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor were dedicated to the nation, strengthening freight transportation and logistics infrastructure.

  6. Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara and Battery Plant: Maruti Suzuki launched its first e-Vitara electric vehicle and inaugurated a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility at Hansalpur.

  7. Khavda Renewable Energy Park: Three projects, completed at a total cost of ₹3,645 crore, were inaugurated as part of the massive hybrid renewable energy park being developed at Khavda in Kutch.

  8. Commonwealth Games 2030: Gujarat is preparing to host the prestigious Commonwealth Games in 2030, with major infrastructure and sporting facilities expected to be developed.

  9. Semiconductor Manufacturing: Approval was granted for the establishment of six semiconductor manufacturing plants in Gujarat under the India Semiconductor Mission.

  10. National Forensic Sciences University: Gujarat Forensic Sciences University was elevated to the status of National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in 2020 and recognised as an Institution of National Importance.

  11. Rajkot Light House Project: Rajkot was selected for the Light House Project under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. A total of 1,144 houses were constructed using advanced building technologies.

  12. International Financial Services Centres Authority: The country’s International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) was established at GIFT City to regulate and promote international financial services.

  13. India International Bullion Exchange: The India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) was established at GIFT City, strengthening India’s position in international bullion trading.

  14. Bulk Drug Park in Bharuch: The foundation stone was laid for a modern Bulk Drug Park in Bharuch to promote pharmaceutical manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported raw materials.

  15. PM MITRA Textile Park in Navsari: The foundation stone was laid for the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Navsari to boost textile manufacturing, investment, and employment.

  16. CNG Terminal at Bhavnagar: The foundation stone was laid for what has been described as the world’s first CNG terminal at Bhavnagar, marking a significant development in Gujarat’s maritime infrastructure.

  17. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad: The Narendra Modi Stadium, recognised as the world’s largest cricket stadium by seating capacity, was developed in Ahmedabad, strengthening the city’s international sporting infrastructure.

  18. Railway Locomotive Manufacturing Facility in Dahod: A major railway locomotive manufacturing facility, involving an investment of approximately ₹20,000 crore, was developed in Dahod under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

  19. 9,000-HP Electric Locomotive: In May 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated a powerful 9,000-horsepower electric locomotive to the nation, marking an important milestone in India’s railway manufacturing capabilities.

The Seva Jyoti Yatra celebrations highlighted Gujarat’s transformation in infrastructure, industry, renewable energy, transportation, financial services, and manufacturing over the past two and a half decades.

The events also reinforced the state government’s commitment to supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed and self-reliant India by 2047, with public participation, good governance, and sustainable development at the centre of its agenda.
