Mamata Banerjee Condemns Arrest of CJP Workers, Calls for United Fight to Save Democracy

Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has strongly condemned the arrest of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) activists Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. She described the arrests as a serious attempt to intimidate the younger generation and suppress their voices. She also urged citizens across the country to unite to protect democracy and constitutional rights.

Sharing her message on the social media platform X, Mamata Banerjee emphasized that generations of citizens have fought hard to secure their democratic rights. She said that this historic struggle must not be allowed to end and should continue for the sake of present and future generations.

Reacting strongly to the imprisonment of the CJP activists, Banerjee described the action as completely unacceptable. She urged people across the country to set aside their differences and unite to defend India’s democratic system. She firmly stated that citizens should never surrender their fundamental and constitutional rights under any circumstances.

Continuing her criticism, the Trinamool Congress chief targeted the central government and other authorities, alleging that democracy is being suppressed in several parts of the country. She claimed that more than 14,000 people in West Bengal alone are currently facing police harassment and political persecution.

Expressing her support for the youth, the TMC chief said that governments that have forgotten the fundamental principles of public welfare are destined to fall. She assured young people across the country that their “Didi” has stood by them like a rock through every challenge and would continue to do so.

Concluding her statement, Banerjee appealed to citizens to come together to protect their motherland, India, and safeguard its democratic values and constitutional principles.
