Mumbai | The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced that it will launch large-scale protests in several states across the country beginning October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Party founder Abhijit Dipke said at a press conference that the protests would continue until the Chief Election Commissioner resigns from his post.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Dipke launched a sharp attack on the government and the Election Commission. He said that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should resign immediately and demanded that a criminal case be filed against him under the appropriate legal provisions. Dipke also called for the selection process for future Chief Election Commissioners to be made fully transparent, with active participation from civil society.
According to party leaders, protests will be held in phases across several key states, including Goa, Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, as part of the campaign demanding the CEC’s resignation.
The party has also announced plans for a major protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi later in October as part of its efforts to expand the campaign nationwide.
