New Delhi | Amid long-standing internal differences within the Punjab Congress, reports of state Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring’s resignation have created a stir in political circles. Some media reports claim that the party high command has accepted his resignation. However, the Congress has yet to issue an official statement clarifying the situation.
Amid speculation over Warring’s resignation, Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot was asked about the matter. He said he was busy with his work and could not comment on the issue at the moment. Pilot neither confirmed nor denied the reports.
Meanwhile, speculation over Raja Warring’s resignation gained further momentum after he updated his bio on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. In the updated bio, he reportedly described himself as the “former president” of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. The change is being viewed as a possible indication of his resignation, although the party has not yet made any formal announcement.
A statement from senior Congress leader and former minister Vijay Inder Singla has also emerged amid the developments. Singla said he remains a loyal party worker and has carried out every responsibility entrusted to him with honesty and dedication.
Asked whether he could be appointed the next president of the Punjab Congress, Singla said he was unaware of any such development. He maintained that Amarinder Singh Raja Warring currently holds the post of Punjab Congress president and that party leaders and workers are working together under his leadership.
Singla added that he would continue to carry out any responsibility entrusted to him by the party in the future with full dedication.
