Congress Is Tearing Apart the Constitution: BJP Launches Scathing Attack on Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched a scathing political attack on Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia called Rahul Gandhi a “symbol of anarchy” and an irresponsible opposition leader, alleging that he makes statements without supporting facts.

During the press conference, Gaurav Bhatia levelled serious allegations against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, accusing them of insulting the country’s Constitution. He stated that the Constitution grants every citizen the right to peaceful protest, but no one should be allowed to violate rules or create a ruckus under the guise of exercising that right. He emphasised that prior permission and a designated location are mandatory for holding protests.

The BJP spokesperson questioned the protests by opposition leaders around the Supreme Court complex, alleging that mobocracy was being used to exert pressure on an impartial and robust institution like the judiciary. He asked whether any responsible citizen or person holding a constitutional position could bring thousands of supporters to the Supreme Court complex to shout slogans and create a ruckus. He also stated that a petition had been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the matter and that the court had issued a notice.

Gaurav Bhatia also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s earlier slogan, “Smash the patriarchy.” He asked whether respect for women was limited only to women belonging to the Gandhi family. He described this as an important constitutional question for the citizens of the country to consider.

The BJP’s sharp attack comes at a time when Rahul Gandhi and the constituent parties of the opposition INDIA alliance are staging protests across the country, raising questions about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission.
