St. Louis: A three-year-old girl narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident after an SUV rolled into a pond in St. Peters, Missouri, on Thursday morning, November 5, according to the Malayalam report.
Megan Kohlhaas had parked her GMC Yukon near the pond while taking three other children to a school bus stop. Her three-year-old daughter remained alone inside the vehicle.
Police believe the child may have accidentally shifted the SUV into gear, causing it to move forward and enter the water. The mother and children shouted when they saw the vehicle moving toward the pond, but it began sinking quickly.
People nearby rushed to help, broke the vehicle's windows and pulled the girl to safety moments before the SUV became fully submerged.
The child was taken to a hospital for examination. Kohlhaas sustained an injury to her leg. She and her family thanked the bystanders for their quick response, which helped save the girl's life.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
