Indore: BJP president Nitin Navin on Thursday targeted the opposition, alleging that its leaders had become “restless” after being out of power. He said opposition parties were uncomfortable with India’s expanding global role and the welfare initiatives being implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Speaking at a Madhya Pradesh government programme in Indore, Navin criticized opposition objections to initiatives such as ‘Seva Diwas’ and ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, organised to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday and his completion of 25 years as a public representative.
Navin said the BJP was working to unite different sections of society and advance development, while accusing the opposition of focusing primarily on politics.
Drawing a distinction between the BJP and its political opponents, Navin said Prime Minister Modi followed the principle of “Nation First”. He alleged that the opposition, in contrast, followed an approach of “Self First, Party Next and Nation Last”.
In an apparent reference to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatraon Ki Goonj’ programme, Navin highlighted government initiatives aimed at entrepreneurship and employment.
He said programmes supporting startups, unicorns and Mudra loans had contributed to the growth of more than two lakh startups across the country. According to Navin, these initiatives were helping young people move from being job seekers to becoming job creators.
Navin also accused previous Congress governments of pursuing vote-bank politics. Referring to Article 370, he argued that had the country been more effectively integrated in earlier decades, Prime Minister Modi would not have needed to take what he described as the difficult step of removing its special provisions.
During the programme, Navin launched the Madhya Pradesh government’s ‘Swamitva Adhikar Abhilekh Nirmanan Evam Registration Yojana 2026’, described at the event as the first initiative of its kind in the country.
Under the scheme, around 50 lakh privately owned rural properties are expected to be registered without registration charges. The initiative is intended to provide rural residents with clearer legal documentation of property ownership and make it easier for them to exercise their property rights.
Referring to the recently concluded 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Navin said India’s influence and standing on the global stage had increased. He criticized the opposition for focusing, in his view, on relatively minor controversies, including discussions surrounding the food served during the summit, rather than India’s broader international role.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and several other dignitaries were present at the programme.
