Kharge gets angry over his ‘useless…’ remark

Bengaluru:  A video of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge is currently going viral on social media. The incident occurred while he was attending a special party event. Kharge became so angry with the repeated slogans raised by the party workers that he even called them “useless fellows” from the stage. The Congress President’s strict stance on discipline has now become a topic of discussion in political circles.

During the “Sankalp Samavesh” event in Bengaluru, while Mallikarjun Kharge was delivering his address from the stage, the workers present in front of him were continuously shouting slogans. When the noise didn’t subside even after much persuasion, Kharge lost his temper. He reprimanded the workers in a very harsh tone, saying, “You people are useless. Will shouting like this here affect the entire country? Sit quietly.”

During his address, Kharge reminded workers that there is no place for “personality worship” in the Congress organization. He warned from the stage that this event is not focused on any one person or individual leader, but rather is an event for the entire Congress party. He made it clear that everyone has gathered here not to worship any particular leader, but to strengthen the organization and the party, and therefore such behavior will not be tolerated.

Actually, this entire controversy occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of the new state president of the party, BK Hariprasad. While Kharge was giving his speech, some over-enthusiastic workers started shouting “DK-DK” slogans in favor of Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Seeing the controversy escalating, Kharge warned the workers that the entire event was being video recorded and after examining the footage, strict punitive action would be taken against those indulging in indiscipline. However, seeing the situation deteriorating, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar himself and senior leader Randeep Surjewala immediately intervened and calmed the workers.
