Chandrababu Naidu sent to Rajahmundry Central Jail

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu was taken to Rajamahendravaram Central Jail late on Sunday night after a Vijayawada court sent him to 14-day judicial custody in an alleged multi-crore corruption case. Officials said Naidu reached the jail after traveling about 200 kilometers from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district. East Godavari District Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh said, “Chandrababu Naidu reached the jail at around 1.20 am.” The facilities provided to Naidu by the court during his judicial custody included home-cooked food, Medicines and a special room are involved.

The 73-year-old former chief minister has been provided a separate accommodation inside the jail in view of the alleged possible threat to his life. He is a Z-plus category security person. Naidu’s son and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh accompanied his father to the jail gate and waited outside for some time before leaving.

As per the custody order, the judge highlighted that there are grounds to believe in the allegations leveled against Naidu and 24 hours is not enough to complete the investigation. Naidu was arrested from Nandyal on Saturday morning in the alleged Skill Development Corporation scam case. He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team while he was sleeping in his special bus equipped with all facilities.
