Rain-related incidents have claimed 23 lives in Pakistan so far

Islamabad.In Pakistan, 23 people lost their lives in different rain-related incidents. The pre-monsoon rains have started here. The death toll in several rain-related incidents in the country has risen to 23 in the last 24 hours. While giving this information, officials said that a spokesperson of the Emergency Service Rescue-1122 in Punjab province has given the cause of the deaths. They say that during the rains in the country, these deaths have happened due to electric shock, drowning and lightning. The spokesman said five people died in Narowal district and two in Sheikhpura district due to lightning. At least seven people drowned and six others lost their lives due to electrocution in different areas of the province. At least 75 people were injured due to incidents of electrocution, wall and roof collapse in various districts including Narowal, Lahore, Chiniot and Sheikhupura, according to officials. 

In this case, local rescue officials said that earlier on Monday morning a woman and her two children were killed when the roof of a house collapsed in Shahzad Town area of ​​Islamabad. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the provincial government and district administration to take immediate steps to drain the water accumulated in the urban areas of various districts. In its appeal, the local police has asked people to avoid unnecessary travel and be careful during the rainy season, drive with caution and stay away from electric poles.
