Union Home Minister Shah reached Lakhisarai’s Ashok temple and offered prayers

Lakhisarai: The Ashoka Temple of Lakhisarai in Bihar is once again in the news. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached here and worshiped. Due to this, police security has also been increased here. It is said that this temple was built in the 8th century. But it was discovered only 56 years ago. According to information, the temple has been fully decorated and security personnel have been deployed around.  Ashok temple of Lakhisarai is also called Deoghar of Bihar.

It is said that on April 7, 1977, when a shepherd was grazing cows here, the shepherd found a Shivling here. A shepherd named Ashoka had discovered this giant Shivling under the ground. It is said that Ashok used to come here daily to graze cows. One day when he was playing gilli-danda there, he reached the Shivling while searching for the gilli. This Shivling was inside the earth. Later, when the information about Shivling was received, then the temple was constructed here. Because, Ashoka had discovered this Shivling, hence the name of the temple was Ashok Dham. Jagannathpuri Shankaracharya inaugurated the temple complex on 11 February 1993 after its reconstruction. Every year a large number of devotees reach here during Shivratri and in the month of Sawan.
