‘Annam The Millet Shop’ by CISSA Showcases Products from Over Fifty Leading Brands

Thiruvananthapuram: The Center for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA) is set to launch ‘Annam The Millet Shop’ in Thiruvananthapuram, offering a diverse range of  Millet related products sourced from more than fifty reputable  companies across the country. The inauguration ceremony will take place at Kurvankonam, Thiruvananthapuram on July 10th at 5 pm, with Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, serving as the chief guest.

‘Annam The Millet Shop’ aims to provide a comprehensive collection of high-quality millets, millet powders, value-added products, delicacies, beverages, and more, all under one roof. “Our objective is to foster a millet food culture by offering ready-to-use or instant products conveniently available in a single shop,” stated Dr. C. Suresh Kumar, General Secretary of CISSA. He further highlighted that the store will not only showcase products from established companies but also include offerings from small and large millet based farmer producer companies.

The diverse range of nutritionally rich grains available at Annam The Millet Shop includes products from Sorghum Millet, Pearl Millet, Finger Millet, Foxtail Millet, Proso Millet, Browntop Millet, Little Millet, Buckwheat Millet, Kodo Millet, and Barnyard Millet. These grains offer exceptional nutritional value and a wide array of health benefits, making them valuable additions to a balanced diet and effective in combating lifestyle diseases.

CISSA- Millet initiative Chairman, Dr. Anil S Pillai, emphasized the vision of creating a platform where customers can conveniently access a variety of millet products, contributing to the promotion of healthy eating habits and well-being. Soon more such shops will be opened in different cities of Kerala.

CISSA is at present an empanelled agency under SFAC,NDDB, NCDC and NABARD, for 10,000 FPO scheme of Government of India
